A couple of days ago, Rocío Lacasa interviewed me for her psychology channel on YouTube.

The interview is about the inference-based model of obsessive-compulsive disorder and the therapy built on it, Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).

When I was in Canada working with O’Connor and his team, I described the inference-based model over a series of articles, because both the account this cognitive model gives of how OCD develops and the treatment based on it strike me as overwhelmingly logical, and over the last few years I’ve seen how effective it is in clinical practice with different types of OCD.

Various studies over the last 15 years support the model. My PhD thesis, which I hope will see the light of day in 2019, has several research aims, all of them related to the inference-based model. In my project, I set out to explore the relationship between OCD and the context in which obsessions arise, and to analyse the relationship between OCD and the person’s identity.

The interview is fairly short (and in Spanish), and my aim was to present the model’s basic principles and concepts in the most approachable way possible. I hope I’ve managed it. I’ll leave it here in case you’re interested. If so, I hope you find it useful!
